BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY:  Support the IT Infrastructure Manager to develop, support, maintain and oversee the entire district IT related processes and uses for the Active Directory, Google Management (GAFE), Antivirus, Email Filtering program software.

Management of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:

  • Implement, install, configure, and upgrade hardware and software on managed servers; This includes evaluation and testing of operating system patches
  • Maintain proper security on managed servers and document configurations
  • Ensure design of system allows all components to work properly together
  • Evaluate and modify performance and make recommendations for future upgrades on managed servers
  • Design and architect a global active directory infrastructure, including, design and implementation of group policy, domain consolidation for large scale organizations
  • Act as a member of the windows active directory domain administrator support team in providing timely and efficient support to assigned operations; Coordinate day-to-day operations, apply security patches/fixes and anti-virus updates as released by software manufacturers and anti-virus vendors, create and implement domain level security policies such as authentication mechanisms, password policies and rules, IPSEC policies etc.
  • Plan and design group policy objects as requested to ensure compliance of company policies for servers and user end-point devices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve active directory, GPO, active directory federated services, and password/identity management systems
  • Assist in management and support of internal and external DNS systems; Support internal DHCP architecture and scoping
  • Collaborate in assessing current and expected server infrastructure needs, configuration, maintenance, optimization and documentation of server infrastructure
  • Ensure that system improvements and changes are implemented correctly and completely, and monitor all effects of the modifications
  • Assist in management and support of the district’s antivirus solution to ensure the security of all infrastructure devices
  • Ensure that all district stakeholders know as much as possible, as quickly as possible about security incidents
  • Assist in management and support of Google Apps for Education
  • Serve as technical lead on project delivery items related to Google Apps for Education
  • Troubleshoot complex issues in G Suite, Chrome, messaging, and endpoint devices such as tablets and phones
  • Assist in management and support of the district’s email filter and threat protection services
  • Investigate and resolve any potential email security risks; Block/unblock emails as appropriate
  • Handle multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
  • Troubleshoot problems reported by users; Analyze and isolate issues
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed

  • Strong understanding of architecting and configuring Microsoft Windows OS technology including AD Forests, Domains, Trusts, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and Organizational Units
  • Experience with change control and incident management
  • Knowledge of Scripting language
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure and concepts

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience; 3-5 years of experience maintaining and supporting a Microsoft environment and Active Directory; Microsoft Certification (MCSE), CCNA, Network+ or equivalent certification in relevant programs preferred

  • May be required to be on call 24 hours a day
  • Lift up to 50 occasionally

  • Work is normally performed in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • Work is conducted around moving mechanical parts
  • Work involves frequent exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards
  • Work involves working in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions with frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and moderate noises
