BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: The Boot Camp is a function of the Bastrop County Juvenile Services. The teacher will serve students in grades 5 through 12 and teach ELA, math, science, social studies, and reading. Instruction is delivered through a combination of direct instruction and online modules. The JJAEP teacher is responsible for developing lessons plans for all subject/grade levels.

Classroom Management and Organization:
The school is housed at 599 Cool Water Drive, Bastrop, TX. Boot Camp is a function of the Bastrop County Juvenile Services division and the JJAEP teacher will work under the guidelines provided by the Bastrop County Juvenile Probation Office and Bastrop ISD. The JJAEP teacher will work with an instructional aide and the JJAEP Drill Instructors.

The JJAEP teacher will be expected to communicate regularly with the sending schools in Elgin ISD, McDade ISD, Bastrop ISD, and Smithville ISD regarding grades, testing, and transitions. Face to face parent communication is expected at least weekly as parents/guardians drop off and pick up students. The teacher is also expected to communicate regularly with their BISD supervisor.

EXPERIENCE: At least one-year student teaching or approved internship.

EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer, printer, calculator, copier, fax machine, and shredder.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

? Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
? General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
? Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
? Valid Texas secondary teaching certificate in a core content with required special education endorsements for assignments (We will accept applicants that currently have a secondary certification in a core content area)
