BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: 

On an as-needed basis, clean and maintain district facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Cleaning

  1. Sweep, wet and dry mop, buff and wax floors and participate in floor stripping.
  2. Vacuum and shampoo carpet removing stains and sanitizing.
  3. Clean and sanitize restroom floors, common areas, classrooms, etc.
  4. Use various tools to remove scuff marks from floors in rooms and halls.
  5. Operate custodial equipment such as mops, 2-speed and high-speed buffers, wet/dry vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, water and carpet extractors, carpet blowers, spotters and ride/walk behind automatic floor scrubber.
  6. Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning floors, boards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
  7. Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.
  8. Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
  9. Assist in maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.

 

Maintenance and Repair

  1. Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by principal.
  2. Perform preventative maintenance to ensure comfort, health, and safety of students and staff. Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to principal.
  3. Assist in setting up facilities for special events.

Safety

  1. Assist in opening and closing building each school day checking to ensure that all exit doors are working properly. Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
  2. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
  3. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, and climbing.
  4. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  5. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  6. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials; regularly work irregular hours, occasional prolonged hours.
